Many of our shelves, mantels and furniture pieces feature a wax finish. During production, the wax is carefully hand-applied and meticulously buffed off the wood surface. The item is then left to dry thoroughly before being packaged and prepared for shipment.

Yes, timber is a natural material, so each piece is unique and will display its own natural features. We use air-dried oak and kiln-dried pine, so your shelf or mantel is likely to show surface cracks, splits, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows, twists, as well as sticker shadows and machine marks. This is all part of its rustic charm. Once placed in your warm and comfortable home, the wood will continue to adjust and evolve, with additional cracks possibly developing. This is completely normal and expected as the timber settles into its new environment.
