Offset: a full height bookcase with shelves that break the grid

A big, solid wood bookcase with full length sides and shelves set at staggered heights across the unit. The openings never line up, so tall books, records, framed prints and plants all get a home without you having to rearrange the room around them. Handmade to order in our St Ives workshop.

Choose your size

All four sizes are 22cm deep, which takes hardbacks, LPs and box files without overhang.

Measure your wall height first and allow a few centimetres for skirting boards and uneven floors. If you are between sizes, message us before you order. We build to the millimetre for no extra charge on most shapes.

Five wax finishes

Medium Brown, Dark Oak, Jacobean, Teak and Walnut. Every finish is a natural wax, rubbed in by hand and buffed back rather than sprayed with lacquer. Wax feeds the grain instead of sitting on top of it, so a scuff can be fixed at home with a cloth rather than a full strip and refinish.

What it is made from

Slow grown Scandinavian pine from FSC managed Swedish forests. Cold climate growth means tight annual rings and a stable board. Every length is kiln dried to UK indoor moisture levels before it is cut, which is what stops a solid wood piece twisting once it sits next to a radiator.

Knots, grain swirl and colour variation are part of it. No two units come out identical.

The 25 year guarantee

If a frame, joint, panel or piece of hardware fails under normal use within 25 years, we repair or replace it. We also alter pieces years later. If you move house and the new alcove is 8cm narrower, the same workshop that built it can cut it back down.

Delivery

Delivery starts from £80 and the final cost depends on your postcode and the size of the piece. The courier contacts you directly to arrange a slot and confirm payment once your order is ready to leave the workshop. Order more than one piece and only one delivery charge applies.

Orders processed here will take 6-8 weeks to arrive. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email plus a delivery date after 4 weeks will be sent to you via a tracking link
